Dubai has a way of outdoing itself with bigger and bigger projects and the Dubai Canal has been a long time coming. Initially announced before the 2008 crisis, it got put on hold for a few years, but since the construction was restarted, the pace of building was just insane. As an example of how fast things were moving, the photograph above was taken just 20 days ago on October 20th, while the ones below were made today!
Above, a luxury yacht passes under the newly opened bridges over the Dubai Canal. The canal essentially turns a huge chunk of Dubai into an island, connecting with the old Dubai Creek, Dubai’s original starting point as a trading hub.

With the new canal, a new promenade along with quite a few kilometers of running and cycling track have opened, connecting the sea with the new Business Bay area.
A really interesting feature of the newly opened Dubai Canal is the architecture of the bridges crossing over it. For the first time in Dubai, each bridge has been individually designed, presenting unique looks.
