Grand Central Terminal
One thing I really love about writing this blog is that every time I post something about a new location, I’m forced to read about it so I don’t make any obvious mistakes. At least some of the information usually sticks, which means I end up learning something new.
The same was with what is usually referred to as the Grand Central Station in New York City, which apparently is the wrong name for it. After doing a bit of reading about it, it seems it’s actually called the Grand Central Terminal and is actually the largest train station in the world when it comes to the number of platforms. Besides that, it’s also a beautiful piece of architecture which I’ve always wanted to photograph. In all my previous trips to New York I actually visited the place, but I never had the right lens for it until last week when I had with me the new Nikon 19mm PC-E lens.
For the technically minded, this photograph was made by “flat-stitching” two landscape images made by shifting the lens up and down. Because of this, I also went for the more “classic” architectural crop of 5×4.
