As I was editing some images this afternoon at home, I noticed the dark clouds gathering above Dubai and thought a break would be just what I needed. I headed out towards the Business Bay area looking for a vantage point where I could potentially photograph lighting hitting Burj Khalifa. My first location didn’t really work out as it was too close to the building, so I went a bit further back.
I had left home in such a rush, I didn’t even have my Big Stopper with me to do some longer exposures – that’s the best chance of catching some lighting – long exposure and hope it will happen while your mirror is open. Luckily, my 24mm tilt-shift, goes all the way up to f32 and with ISO50 I was able to get 15 seconds of exposure. As you can see by looking at the original (just roll-over the image), there are a lot of sensor spots visible at that kind of aperture!
