During my talk for Nikon at the Xposure Photography Festival I brought up Antarctica quite a bit as one of those places where you really want to be prepared with your equipment, having two cameras with you and lots of lenses in order to be able to cover everything that’s in front of you. This photograph, although by far not one of my best from there, really exemplifies the point above – I had a crop sensor D7000 with a 70-300mm lens around my shoulder supplementing my D800 with a wider lens which allowed me to capture scenes like this quite far from the boat.
In terms of the location, this was the first time we spotted land after the two days crossing of the Drake Passage and the landscape really didn’t disappoint!
