We have just returned from a few days spent in the Western region of the United Arab Emirates, exploring the huge Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter), camping amongst the dunes and waiting for the camels to pass us by. The interesting part about this particular locations is that there is a camel farm fairly close and the camels are being taken out into the desert (I guess for walking) every morning. Although the camel herder nowadays rights an ATV, it’s not difficult to imagine the old days when camels were the only mode of transportation across the vast expenses of the desert.
