Besides the hundreds of camels you get to see at the Al Dahfra Camel Festival every year, one of the other things I find fascinating is all the support services around the festival. You’ve got lots of little restaurants serving falafel, mandy and other local favourites. Then there’s plenty of tents where you can buy camping gear, wood for the fire and pretty much anything else you might need while being in a tent for two weeks in the desert. And then there are the laundry tents! This time I counted about 6 or 7 and there’s something very funny about having laundry service in the middle of the desert.
