After all these years of photographing Dubai, Emirates Towers are still one of my favourite buildings and I’m happy anytime I get to photograph them from a new angle.
As you can probably imagine a lot of the stuff around Emirates Towers wasn’t there a few years ago and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a good angle where you can see the buildings unobstructed. I made this photograph last week during a stormy day and looking back through my files, it’s actually the first time I’ve photographed this area with such heavy clouds. If you look at the original photograph (by rolling your mouse over the photograph), you will notice that, although this is shot with a 24mm tilt-shift lens, I still had to do some stretching in the image to get everything straight. This was mostly because of the slight variation in the level of the Nikon D800 and because I was shifting the lens left and right to the maximum of its abilities.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what DIFC stands for (in case you’re not based in Dubai), it’s Dubai International Financial Centre.
