After reviewing my images from last year, I felt that, having been quite busy with commercial assignments, I didn’t go out shooting for myself much, particularly in the UAE. I really want to correct that this year as I always felt that the only way to progress my photography was by shooting for myself without the added pressure of client briefs and client changes. I also felt like I didn’t really go camping much so that’s another thing I would like to rectify this year. Although there has been a bit of a setback with our rooftop tent – the cover had a tear in it and some water got inside, getting everything moldy – I will try to get it into working condition as soon as possible and plan for some more trips.
So in the spirit of getting out more, yesterday I spent the night in the Empty Quarter, enjoying the silence the sand dunes are offering and hiking up and down these monsters to find interesting vantage points like this one.
