I just came back to Dubai after a few days spent on a road trip through Oman, going all the way from the mountains surrounding Nizwa to the coastline south of Sur, particularly close to a small village called Aseelah, which I’ve been visiting every year for the last 15 years (in fact the first post ever on this blog was about a trip to Aseelah 11 years ago), mostly for kitesurfing during the summer. This year, I was there a bit earlier than the windy season (winds arrive around mid-May) and I really wanted to photograph an area just inland from the village that to me has always looked like you’ve just landed on Mars. It feels harsh, it’s hot on most days and in the summer the wind kicks up the sand forming huge sand dunes and even covering the road.
I used a DJI Phantom 4 Advanced drone to get above the rocks and this particular image is a panorama made out of 3 images.
