I hardly photograph from rooftops nowadays if it’s not shooting for a client, but from time to time it’s fun to return to the downtown area and see what are the changes. Many of the places I used to photograph Burj Khalifa from a few years ago are not really usable anymore as they don’t have a view – there’s a lot of new buildings starting to surround the Burj Khalifa area so getting a clear view of the entire building is always a challenge.
So in light of this I thought it would be fun to link to a few of my old images taken around the Business Bay / Downtown area:
Beautiful Dubai #8 – Made in October 2013 and taken almost from the same vantage point as the image above, but from a building that does not have a view of the Burj Khalifa anymore as the tall building at the right of the image above has popped up in front.
Beautiful Dubai #4 – Made in November 2011, this is a side view (in relation to the image above). Basically the building I was on yesterday is now somewhere at the left edge of this image, where in 2011 was nothing but sand.
Blast from the past – Made in April 2007 from a helicopter, this just shows you how much has been built in the last 12 years.
